MSOC: 2017 Championship Field Set

IRVING, Texas – No.  7 FIU (11-0-4, 6-0-2 C-USA) earned the top seed in the 2017 Conference USA Men’s Soccer Championship and will receive the first-round bye after claiming its first C-USA regular-season title. The seven-team for this year’s championship will be hosted by No. 2 seed Old Dominion, Nov. 8-12, at the ODU Soccer Complex in Norfolk, Virginia.

A tie-breaker to decide the fourth and fifth seed between Charlotte and New Mexico came down to goal deficit as both ended the regular season with 11 points. Charlotte swiped the higher seed with a larger goal differential than New Mexico.
 
This year’s C-USA Men’s Soccer Championship begins Wednesday, Nov. 8, with quarterfinal matches at 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. All three quarterfinal and both semifinal matches will be streamed on CUSA TV. The championship match is set for Sunday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. EST on ESPN3.
 
Wednesday’s quarterfinal round kicks off at 2 p.m. EST with (4) Charlotte versus (5) New Mexico. The 49ers and Lobos faced off at the end of October and ended in a tie.
 
The second match will be (3) Kentucky facing  (6) Marshall. The two teams faced off in mid-October when the Thundering Herd edged past the Wildcats with the lone goal from freshman Lewis Knight.
 
Finishing the day is host and (2) Old Dominion against (7) South Carolina, which is an exact switch in seeding from the last year’s quarterfinals. The Gamecocks pulled out a win against the Monarchs on Oct. 29, 3-2.

Match 5 – Match 2 Winner vs. Match 3 Winner (CUSA TV) – 7 p.m.
 
Sunday, November 12 – Championship Match
Match 6 – Match 4 Winner vs. Match 5 Winner (ESPN3) – 1 p.m.
